Karen McEnroe
Senior Director of Customer Management, Hearst Magazines
2011 FMA Hall of Fame Inductee
Karen McEnroe is the Senior Director of Customer Management at Hearst Magazines, one of the largest consumer publishing companies. With more than 30 years experience in magazine fulfillment, circulation, and customer service, she began her career as an account manager with McGraw-Hill.
Over the years, Karen held increasingly responsible managerial positions there, ultimately as a task force member charged with creating a large scale fulfillment subsidiary in Ireland. Later she joined Palm Coast Data as their training manager, then moved back to the Northeast to become Emap USA's Associate Fulfillment Director for their 57 magazines. With Primedia's purchase of Emap in 8/01, Karen assumed responsibility for their 147 titles as their fulfillment director. With her move to Hearst in 5/05 to manage fulfillment, Karen also became responsible for Hearst's online customer service sites. She dramatically re-engineered them to more effectively service customer needs and add revenue generating opportunities, resulting in a major reduction in telephone service costs and increasing online sales.
During her career, Karen managed 120 magazine conversions, 14 new launches, and 35 transfers. Currently, she is in the process of transitioning the US Hachette titles to Hearst's fulfillment and customer service operations and helping to launch a new magazine.
In 2005, Karen was awarded the FMA Fulfillment Manager of the Year award and in 2009, the Audience Development Magazine All Star Award. She has participated as a panelist for various fulfillment related seminars.
